How can we improve Pixen?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.

  1. Add shade linear / Remove shade linear

    For example, a pencil tool that draws over a colour and adds 5 brightness to whatever colour you're going over, or removes 5 brightness. A lot of tools use this and after switching to Pixen shading sprites is a whole lot more difficult

    • An interlaced color palette / The crisscross of color palette !

      Well basically adding the possibility to join colors and gradients between them.
      Make like a crisscross of colors, joined together.
      Making your project's color more coherent and efficient.

      • create sprite sheet / export sprites from single image

        This idea may be similar to another already posted idea but this is what i like to see.

        When creating a single image i like to be able to register a selection, give it a name and continue editing. After creating my sprites, registered them all and gave them a name i want to export all sprites from this single image to (PNG) files with the given names. for example: i created a helicopter, tree and a ball and named theses. After exporting the sprites i want these files on my disk:

        tree.png
        ball.png

        Now i can process them…

        • bugs in the palette widgets

          While editing a sprite, the frequency palette may miscount colors used, displaying incorrect results.

          When changing a palette index's color, it may appear incorrect in the frequency palette, and cause miscounts.

          The only way to refresh the frequency palette is switching between it and the recent colors widget.

          When switching between the recent colors widget and the frequency palette, the frequency palette may display incorrect colors (typically after changing a palette index's color)

          After double clicking on a palette index within the frequency palette, it is not easy to exit the palette editing mode. (E.g cannot "deselect" the palette index…

          • Pixen Quick Load Save Files in current Image/Animation

            Can you please add a "Library" section like Adobe Flash CS6 so we can add certain pictures to the current image/animation

            • Mirror Map/Pattern Tool

              When making a large repetitive image I'm finding myself hitting copy/paste/merge-below multiple times. It would be easier if i could select part of the screen and hold down(a key or brush) to duplicate the graphic following the cursor. Almost like creating an instant pattern.

                the only major feature that I see missing from this software is a tool for dithering. Please add one!

                  I definitely need some scaling capabilities. Being able to select an area and scale that selection would be amazing!

                    I (and many others who use Pixen to edit Minecraft texture files) would like an image graining tool, and maybe even a selection grain (like the rectangle selection square).

                      Being able to form a gradient fill with the ability to set gradient angle and start/end point would be great.

                      • sprite sheet centric workflow

                        the result of pixen work can be one of:
                        -single image
                        -single animation
                        -character animation spritesheet

                        i think the least one needs a bit of rethinking.
                        it would be nice to pack few animations into a spritesheet of fixed dimensions (usually power of 2... 128x128 256x256...) and have the frames grouped by animation.
                        I like how this has been done in sprite something for iOS

                        basically you work on a big png and see a portion of it (the frame) then you makes animation by chosing sprites from the big sprite sheet.
